Vivo V60e A Closer Look at the Latest Mid-Range Contender

Vivo has recently unveiled its new V60e, a smartphone that brings a host of upgrades and new features to its E-series lineup. Positioned as a strong contender in the mid-range segment, the V60e focuses on an enhanced camera experience, a larger battery, and improved durability. This blog post dives into the key aspects of the V60e, comparing it to its predecessor, the Vivo V50e.

Design and Durability

The Vivo V60e boasts a sleek and lightweight design, a notable achievement considering its substantial 6500mAh battery. With a thickness of just 7.8mm and a weight of 192 grams, it offers a comfortable in-hand feel. The phone’s back and frame are constructed from polycarbonate with a matte finish, effectively resisting fingerprints. A significant upgrade in durability comes with the IP68 and IP69 certifications, indicating improved water and dust resistance. The V60e is available in two color options: Noble Gold and Illumination Purple.

Immersive Display

The V60e features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ Quad-Curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the V50e. A key enhancement is the inclusion of New Diamond Shield Glass for enhanced protection. The display offers vibrant colors, good viewing angles, and a peak local brightness of 1600 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. The slim bezels contribute to an immersive viewing experience for multimedia consumption.

Audio and Security

For audio, the V60e comes equipped with stereo speakers, a welcome upgrade for a more immersive sound experience. Security features include both an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock. Haptic feedback during typing is noted to be strong and responsive.

Photography Prowess: A 200MP Camera Experience

The camera system is a major highlight of the V60e, showcasing significant improvements over its predecessor. The rear camera setup includes:

  • 200MP Main Camera: This is a substantial upgrade, featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for sharper, more stable photos.
  • 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera: For capturing broader landscapes and group shots.

On the front, a 50MP AI Autofocus selfie camera ensures detailed and clear self-portraits. Early tests suggest improved detail, more vibrant colors, and particularly impressive results in portrait mode, especially at the 85mm focal length, which provides excellent depth and subject separation. The camera also includes a range of AI-powered features:

  • AI Festival Portrait Mode: Automatically enhances photos with festive lighting.
  • AI Seasonal Portrait Mode: Transforms a single photo to reflect four different seasons.
  • AI Reflection and AI Erase 3.0: Tools for removing unwanted reflections or objects from photos.
  • Micro Movie Mode: Designed for creating daily vlogs and wedding vlogs.
  • India’s Exclusive Wedding Style Portrait Studio Mode: A specialized mode for capturing stunning wedding portraits.

For video recording, both the front and rear cameras support 4K at 30fps with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), ensuring stable and high-quality video capture.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Vivo V60e is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo processor, a 4nm chipset. While not designed for heavy gaming, it offers a balanced performance suitable for daily tasks and moderate gaming. Benchmark tests show an AnTuTu score of over 889,000, which is a notable improvement compared to the V50e’s 700,000 score. The phone starts with an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration, with a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant also available. It uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

The V60e runs on Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15. Vivo promises 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, ensuring long-term software support. The device also integrates Google Gemini features, including Live Gemini, for enhanced AI capabilities.

Connectivity

Connectivity options include 5G with dual SIM support (10 5G bands), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 2.0, and NFC.

Conclusion

The Vivo V60e represents a meaningful upgrade from its predecessor, particularly in the areas of camera performance, battery life, and overall design. While its processor is not geared towards extreme gaming, it offers a balanced performance for everyday use and an enhanced photographic experience. The focus on durability and long-term software support further adds to its appeal in the competitive mid-range smartphone market.
